Frequently Asked Questions: Membership

How can I redeem my free admission?

All members of Texas Science & Natural History are eligible for at least one free admission per visit. The number of free admissions increases at each membership level.

To receive free admission, simply present your member card at the check-in desk or share the member household name along with photo ID to museum staff.

How can I use the validated parking?

All members of Texas Science & Natural History Museum get two free hours of validated parking* in the San Jacinto Garage at 2400 San Jacinto Blvd. when they visit the museum. Please note that the San Jacinto Garage has a 6'11 height restriction.

How to park and validate:

Enter San Jacinto Garage either on the San Jacinto Street or Trinity Street entrance. Upon entry, take a ticket from the pay station. You must bring this ticket into Texas Science & Natural History Museum to receive the parking validation.

Present your ticket to museum staff in the Museum Store at the end of your visit.

Once your ticket is validated, you will scan the QR code on the ticket at the pay station at the garage exit. If you have stayed longer than two hours, you will need to pay any remaining balance.

*Restrictions

UT Austin is a busy campus, and Texas Science and Natural History museum has no control over other events on campus that may impact San Jacinto Garage closures. On days the garage is closed, we are unable to provide parking for museum members, nor can we validate parking at another garage.

San Jacinto Garage will be closed in the following scenarios:

  • Events at Texas Performing Arts
  • Texas Football home games (the museum will also be closed)
  • University events, including graduation, orientation, move-in day, Career Day
  • Sporting events, including UIL Track and Field meets
  • Other public and private events
How can I get and use my guest passes?

For members at the Household level and up, you will receive guest passes enclosed with your member cards.

  • Guest passes can be given to anyone.
  • Members do not need to be present with the recipient of their guest pass. Guest passes are meant for anyone to be able to visit the museum.
  • Guest passes must be presented in person and cannot be redeemed online.
  •  Guest passes are good for one (1) general admission to Texas Science & Natural History Museum.
  • Great for gifts!
  • Please write the Member Household name on the back of your guest passes in the “FROM” field.
How does reciprocal museum admission work with museum associations (NARM & ASTC)?

Members at the Household level and up are enrolled in the reciprocal museum associations North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM) and the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC).

Reciprocal museum associations are good for free and discounted museum admission when you travel.

  • NARM benefits do not include institutions within 15 miles of your home address and home institution.
  • ASTC Passport Program benefits do not include institutions within 90 miles of your home address or home institution.
  • This means reciprocal benefits may not be used at museums such as the Blanton Museum of Art, the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum, the Contemporary Austin, Laguna Gloria, etc.
