In partnership with Texas Science & Natural History Museum and TxDOT, MuseWork Exhibits will provide a FREE three-hour virtual professional development training to introduce educators to a new online exhibit, A Time Before Texas

The concepts and information in this exhibit were primarily developed with middle school audiences in mind. Of course, educators can adapt any of the activities for upper elementary or high school students. The exhibit showcases stories and authentic artifacts from Paleoindian sites right here in Texas and presents cutting-edge science and ancient wisdom to explore what life was like for the first people to call Texas home.

Educators can choose one of the following dates to attend:

Saturday February 17, 2024, 9 AM - 12 PM (CST)

Saturday March 2, 2024, 9 AM - 12 PM (CST)

After completing this training teachers will be able to:

  • apply background information about Paleoindians and the era of Texas history from about 16,000-10,000 years ago in their teaching practices.
  • navigate the A Time Before Texas online exhibit.
  • use the information in the Teacher Guide section of A Time Before Texas and the TEKS-aligned lessons and activities to expand their curricula.

Participants will receive 3 CPE hours (TEA-approved) upon completion of the training and a post-event survey.

In addition, MuseWork exhibits will mail a printed set of the "Year of Survival" educational card game to the first 100 educators who sign up for and complete a training!
