Science Frontiers: Particles of Color

Immerse yourself at the vibrant intersection of science and fashion in an innovative showcase that explores newly developed sustainable sequins and their use across a range of artistic creations, from garments to textiles, art and jewelry.

Engage with the mesmerizing displays of more than 50 objects designed with more than 10,000 sustainable sequins, and explore the research behind the plant-based, compostable and non-toxic sequins.

“Particles of Color: Where Science Meets Fashion” was directed by Dr. Jessica Ciarla, associate professor of instruction in the Division of Textiles and Apparel with creative consultation provided by Gail Chovan, assistant professor of instruction.

This exhibit will be in place through 2025 in the fourth-floor Science Frontiers Gallery, which features new research from the College of Natural Sciences making a positive impact on the natural world.
