We’re delighted to unveil a new art installation at Texas Science & Natural History Museum during the March 7 Texas Wildlife Day!

Austin artist and entomologist Dr. Clare Wuellner’s “Follow the Monarchs” brings art and science together in a vibrant, community-driven project inspired by the monarch butterfly migration. Through tutorials and workshops on drawing anatomically correct monarchs, participants from around the world have created more than 1,000 paper butterflies which will become part of an installation inspired by the oyamel fir forests of Mexico’s Sierra Madre Mountains, where monarchs overwinter.

Funded in part by a Nexus Grant from the City of Austin’s Office of Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment, the project invites visitors to reflect on the beauty and fragility of these remarkable pollinators—and the ecosystems they depend on.

Meet Dr. Wuellner and learn more about this project from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 during Texas Wildlife Day.
